This week the school received our formal NAPLAN results after receiving the preliminary data last term. I am pleased to say we have improved our results across the board, some highlights including:
Year 3
We lifted the number of students in the strong/exceeding categories in 4 out of 5 measures, with our writing results being particularly pleasing, building on last year and reaching similar schools/schools in the Northen Peninsula area with a rise of 6%.
Similarly, in 4 out of 5 measures, we have reduced the number of students in the developing/needs additional support categories.
Year 5
Our year 5 results have shown growth across the board, with our school performing well above the expected for similar schools/ schools in the Northen Peninsula area.
In the spelling and grammar/punctuation measures, our school has achieved 10%+ above similar schools in the strong and exceeding category.
In all measures, we have successfully reduced the number of students in the developing /need additional support categories, showing that the supports and interventions we have in place continue to be effective.
Overall
Our revised school structure and subsequent processes, which are aligned to the multi-tiered system of support, are clearly having an impact and ensuring we are personalising the learning and wellbeing supports for our students.
Our teachers and co-educators are doing an amazing job and I thank them for their continued motivation and willingness to continually improve our work.
Thank you to our parents/carers for supporting us in our work and for supporting and encouraging our students, particularly in regard to their approach to NAPLAN testing.
Finally, a big shout out to our students in year 3 and 5 for treating NAPLAN testing with the respect and focus needed for it to be a meaningful tool in supporting their learning.
