Prep Enrolment and transition Information 2025

The Department of Education (DE) has released a new statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Rowellyn Park Primary School.

The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

You can find information and resources about the new timeline, including factsheets, at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers for the 2025 school year from the Starting School webpage which will be available later in Term 1.

2024-2025 PREP TRANSITION PROGRAM

We would like to provide some information for families with students in prep starting with Rowellyn Park Primary School next year. The below is some general information and dates for your calendars. As we get closer to the dates there will be more specific information provided to families.

Transition Days

During the end of 2024 you will be provided with timeslots to bring your child to school to attend for an hour to engage in learning activities with one of our teachers. During these times there will be parent information sessions for you to attend. Please keep the following dates available as it is important that students attend all transition sessions to ensure they have the best start to school. Please note that times will be throughout the day and will be provided closer to the dates.

Session 1: Tuesday 15th October
Session 2: Tuesday 29th October
Session 3: Tuesday12th November
Session 4: Tuesday 26th November
Session 5 (Statewide Transition Day): Tuesday 10th December

2025 Prep Start of Year Program

Our prep students start the school year a little bit later than the rest of the students. During this time, parents/carers are provided with an individual time to bring their child to school for 1:1 testing with their child’s teacher. This allows for the teachers to make sure that they are planning for the individual needs of their students. The following five days are half days for the prep students to allow them to get used to school. After that the students attend fulltime.

Wednesday 29th January – Wednesday 5th February: Preps students do not attend school. Parents are provided with an individual one hour time slot to bring their child to school.

Thursday 6th February – Wednesday 12th February: Prep students attend for half days and are picked up at the end of lunchtime (12:00).

Thursday 13th February onwards: Prep students attend fulltime.

Please note: Our Out of School Hours program will run during these times for families that require supervision during normal school hours on these days.

If you have any questions regarding the 2024-2025 Prep transition process, please contact Assistant Principal Matt Vines by email or call 9782 0953.
